Step by Step guide to sourdough starter, in this video i will guide you through how i make a sourdough starter, from scratch. A good vigorous sourdough starter is the first and most important step to make delicious sourdough bread at home, join the movement for better bread. I recommend that you use organic flour for your sourdough starter, chemicals is a sourdough starters worst enemy. Start your sourdough starter by, scaling off 40 grams of wholemeal flour and 40 grams of water, mix it well and cover it loosely, leave it in a warm dark place for 1-3 days. After a day you should start to see some activity in your sourdough starter, second feeding, scale of into your sourdough starter 60 grams of water and 60 grams of wholemeal flour, mix it well and put it back in its warm and dark place for 1-3 days, the next feed you take 100 grams of water and 100 grams of 50/50 wholemeal and white bread flour. now you have to feed it every day for 6-7 days to stabelize your sourdough starter, this feed is 2 tablespoons of your sourdough starter, 100 grams of water and 100 grams of 50/50 wholemeal and white bread flour.
